Dear internet:

thanks for visiting. My name's Sam Handler—I am a writer and web developer. Here's my deal:

I was born in Princeton, New Jersey, but moved to Colorado when I was 5. I spent most of my childhood playing, watching, and writing about sports. The Rockies' streak of abysmal seasons (1998-2006) would have ruined my youth if not for the Broncos' and Avalanche's strong late 90s teams. In 2005, a friend and I started a blog called Rockies Disaster Report that morphed into the now-unmaintained Denver Sports Zone. I also spent a season writing for the AOL Fanhouse's Broncos blog.

When I got to college, I didn't have time to care about sports, but I discovered an interest in what they used to call "the world of letters" (good thing they stopped calling it that). Since they weren’t giving out credits for watching football, I spent four years reading and writing about literature, philosophy, and history. I also learned a lot of computer science.

These days, I write for Brokelyn and Mobilizing the Region (the blog of the Tri-State Transportation Campaign). I also freelance as a writer and web developer. I’ll write about anything, and my web toolkit includes HTML, CSS, Ruby on Rails, Python, and JavaScript (also jQuery, jQueryUI and Highcharts). Take a look at my portfolio, and let me know if you want to work together.

Okay, enjoy the rest of the internet!

Sam
